Round 9 v Booragoon – Sunday, 17 August

Overcast conditions for today’s game but not too cold or windy. We were struggling a bit for numbers with the following players missing, Ethan (sick), Kevin (away) and Alex (?). Also Jensen wasn’t feeling 100%. Luckily Dylan’s brother Keiran was at the game with all of his football gear, so he happily joined in.

Steve once again took on the umpiring duties, controlling half of the ground while the Booragoon coach looked after the other half. The game was pretty tough and hard with lots of packs forming pretty regularly but they both did a good job keeping control and sharing the free kicks around to keep everyone involved.

Caleb was the captain for the day – we don’t usually have a captain but Booragoon wanted to have a coin toss before the game to decide which way the teams would kick. Caleb made a good call and won the toss but it didn’t matter which way he picked because there was no wind advantage.

The usual suspects were in the thick of the action from start to finish – Cambell, Jared and Dylan who kicked an excellent goal. One player who has really improved out of sight this season is Jordan and he produced an excellent performance today. Jordan is kicking and handballing really well and looks a lot more confident. Nathan has been quietly working away and today he had a few good quality disposals kicking and handballing accuratly to his team mates. Jayden has played consistently this season and again in this game he did some really good things, contested mark, tackling hard and getting a few contested disposals. I thought Jensen although not 100% battled hard all day and was a good contributor.

Luke is thinking of trying out a new sport next winter (I hope he decides to play football again with us) so I was pleased that he played well in what might be his final game of football for a while. Luke worked really hard and got his fair share of kicks and handballs. He’s been a good player all season and someone you can rely on.

This was our final full game of Super 8s for the season. Next week we’ve got a team wind up at Bounce which will be fun.
